GOURMENT MIXED BEAN SOUP
1/3 heaping cup pinto
beans
1/3 heaping cup great northern beans
1/3 heaping cup red beans
1/8 cup kidney beans
1/8 cup small white beans
1 Tbsp. black beans
1/4 scant cup garbanzo beans
1 Tbsp. blackeye peas
2 Tbsp. split peas
1/3 cup lentils
(total 2 cups beans/peas)
1 large onion, chopped
1 large can tomatoes
1 tsp. chili powder
1 clove garlic, chopped
1/2 cup red wine
1/2 cup chopped parsley
1/2 lb. lean ham, cubed
For best results
use C&F Brand beans.
Instructions:
Place in large pan, cover with water, soak, rinse well, then add 2 qts.
water and 1/2 lb. lean ham, cubed. Simmer slowly 2-1/2 hours. Add onion,
tomatoes, chili powder, garlic, and salt/pepper to taste. Simmer another
hour or until done. Before serving, add wine and parsley.
Makes 10 servings.
Each serving provides
