BLACKEYES - Increased prices are the norm as the pipeline is close to being empty. There will be no relief until new crop is available in October. Weather concerns in California (too much rain) and drought condition in Texas have market pundits wary. BLACK BEANS - Product continues to move into Mexican export channels at a steady pace. Values remain steady at the higher levels. New crop values are slightly lower but planting is still three to four weeks away. BABY LIMAS - Unchanged. GREAT NORTHERNS - Market continues to inch upward with export demand supporting available stock. New crop pricing indications are slightly higher with talk of decreased planting. GREEN SPLIT PEAS - Unchanged. LENTILS - More tenders from the PL480 sector continue; however, values remain steady to slightly weaker. Planting in the Pacific Northwest is about 50 percent complete. LARGE LIMAS - Unchanged. LIGHT RED KIDNEYS - Unchanged. NAVY BEANS - Stocks appear to be tighter than originally projected, the market has responded accordingly with few offerings, and moderate price increases. PINK BEANS - Unchanged. PINTOS - Spring is in the air and producers are busy preparing for planting. Few beans are coming to market and some offshore business is keeping the market flat. New crop values are quoted slightly higher than current crop, but it is still early with lots of uncertainties. SMALL REDS - Unchanged. YELLOW POPCORN - Unchanged. LONG GRAIN RICE - Prices rose slightly during the period with millers nervous about new crop. Decreased planting projections have set a decidedly firmer tone. MEDIUM GRAIN RICE - Market has reversed and taken an upward swing. Too much rain in California has planting behind a month and producers may not be able to get the entire crop in the ground.
